1996-97
Return to Basketball Year-by-Year Update 2/25/2016
HOME
Coach Meseke's final year - his last home game was memorable. A 2 point overtime win over Emporia made all the fans happy. The semi-final loss to Santa Fe Trail
was that team's only real test on their way to an undefeated season and
State Championship. My last memory of that game was watching
Coach Meseke pacing back and forth
along the bench as the clock wound down. The Hayden team had come very
close to another monumental upset which was a specialty with Coach
Meseke.

1/31/97 Highland Park Box score
Box score shows 8 points for Suddarth (2 FG & 4 FT) but gives total points for
Suddarth as 6. Story says that Erpelding and Shufelberger came off the bench
for a total of 15 points - yet the box score says each of them scored 8 points each.
I gave credit as follows : Suddarth 8, Erpelding 8 and Shufelberger 7.
