STATE CHAMPIONS  CLASS AA: Salina  CLASS A: Larned  CLASS B: Downs

John Starbuck's last year as coach and Hayden wins it's first Jayhawk League basketball championship. Games that were lost in the regular season were very closely contested (all lost by 1 point ) and Hayden could have easily finished the regular season undefeated. Hayden earned it's first trip to a KSHAA State tournament by defeating Highland Park at Wamego. Tex Winter (assistant at K-State) handed out the championship trophy.  Hayden suffered the first decisive defeat of the year in the first round of the tourney. Bob Godwin of Beloit scored 38 points to end,  at that time, Hayden's best season ever.
